Privacy Policy

Lumina (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect when you use the Lumina language learning app, how we use it, and your rights. Data We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to run the app. Below is a complete list of data types:

  • ·Account data — your name and email address, provided when you sign up via email/password or Google Sign-In.
  • ·Learning progress — words studied, spaced repetition (SRS) intervals, streak count, XP, total words learned, current deck, and session dates. Stored in Firebase Firestore under your account.
  • ·App preferences — notification settings, language pair choice, and onboarding status. Stored locally on your device via SharedPreferences and never uploaded to our servers.
  • ·Usage data — Firebase may collect anonymous crash reports and analytics data in accordance with its own privacy policy.

We do not collect payment information, precise location, contacts, camera access, microphone access, or any biometric data.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to operate and improve Lumina:

  • ·Syncing your learning progress across devices.
  • ·Sending daily word reminder notifications (if enabled).
  • ·Personalising the learning experience based on your progress.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. The only third-party recipient of your data is Google Firebase, which provides our authentication and database infrastructure.

Data Retention

Your data is stored for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all associated Firestore data at any time from within the app via Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is irreversible.

Children

Lumina is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Third-Party Services

Lumina uses Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore) as its backend. Firebase is operated by Google LLC. Please review Google’s Privacy Policy to understand how Google handles data on their infrastructure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
